Dr. Nikolaos Kazantzis

Dr. Kazantzis was born in London, England, where he attended “the Vaughan”, the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, one of seven comprehensive Schools achieving the Spectator top 100 list before relocating to New Zealand. He attended Massey University, where he received a Bachelor’s degree with first-class honors, a Master’s degree with distinction, a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology, and a Ph.D. in psychology.

Dr. Kazantzis published seven peer-reviewed papers from his doctoral research, including two papers in the prestigious Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology. During his doctoral training, Dr. Kazantzis was concurrently employed as a graduate teaching assistant from 1996 to 2000 and also as a Junior Research Officer from 1999 to 2000, during which he produced a further ten peer-reviewed papers.

He received post-doctoral training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy from Dr. Aaron T. Beck and Dr. Judith S. Beck at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Philadelphia, USA. He completed a full-year supervised practicum under Dr. Cory Newman (Center for Cognitive Therapy, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania) and undertook postdoctoral studies in research at Harvard University.

In 2019 he was invited by his Alma mater, the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, to contribute the lead article for the inaugural Alumni magazine.
